Trashcan makeover

So one of my dearest friends has a trashcan that needs overhauled.  The can has sentimental value because it was used in her Grandmother's General Store many years ago.  The can will be repurposed and put to use in her new office.  I spent most of last evening sanding and cleaning this amazing piece of history and can't wait to see the finished product.  I think we are painting it metallic silver/nickel to reflect a stainless steel color; however, I am loving all of the scratches and flaws, the green colors that have been used over the years, and the old rusty look of it now...What do you think?
